Q) Rosa, you are an amazing lady. First off, where are you from and what is your ethnic background?
A) Thank you. I am 1/2 Filipina, 3/8 Samoan, 1/8 American,  I have lived in all over and my mixed ethnicity probably is a part of why I am so strong and how I got involved in sports, weight lifting and combative activities.

Q) When and how did you start playing sports?
A) I played rugby with the boys all the time! I rather go out and rough house than stay inside. I also started lifting weights and took judo classes as soon as I could. By the time I was ten I was doing all of these things with my free time. I would not say I was that fast or great at sports but like many people with Samoan blood, I am strong and like to mix it up!

Q) When did you realize that you were much stronger than your friends?
A) I could see my chunky muscles develop plus when it came to anything with sports my strength was noticeable. I have one sister and two brothers, all are strong so I didn't know just how strong I was compared to others until later. When I took more classes I could see that I was beating grown men even before I was a grown woman. Nobody could knock me off my base.

Q) Rosa, what are your best lifts?
A) I don't know to the exact pounds because I don't test it to the maximum all the time. I know I can squat 315 pounds, I can bench press 175 pounds and can leg press more than 900 pounds. All of these are for a nice, controlled 3 repetitions.

Q) WOW! And you know how to fight?!?! You must have some killed scissor holds and chokes, huh?
A) I am told so but I have never applied a scissor or choke to myself so I do not know!  My legs are short, I can not get them around much except a head, neck, arm or leg. If I do get them wrapped up snug it is surely the end of the story for the man or woman trapped. I am also very well versed in chokes, nerve holds, kicks, punches, strikes, just about everything. Some of this is for sport and some has been learned for self-defense.

Q) Have you had to use your self-defense skills in real life?
A) Yes. Two times. I had a boyfriend who got violent when he drank even a little bit of alcohol. I gave him a strong kick and got behind him and choked him. I do not think he remembered anything. He is an alcoholic and I hope gets cured. In that case I did not have a choice of how to react. Another time I was in a small village near Manila and a man grabbed me, I think he was trying to mug me. I kicked his knee in the front and elbowed him in the nose. Blood was everywhere and I ran away.

Q) Wow, good thing you escaped those situations, Rosa. Do you often defeat men in training?
A) Yes. I like to face men who are bigger and stronger than me because it makes me better. Sometimes though, especially if I am back home, there are more smaller men. Sometimes they are fast and explosive but if there is grappling or judo then he will not far too well when I slow down the action. Training is to get better, gender should not matter.

Q) Are you married? Do you have children?
A) I am married and my husband and I have two boys. They are 12 and 16.

Q) Is your husband a weight lifter or martial artist?
A) He is a black belt in American Systems Karate and about 5'8" 155 pounds. He does not train much anymore. He will be the first to tell you that he can not match me in stand up or ground fighting. He can not match my lower body lifts but can lift a little more than me upper body.

Q) Is it fun being able to defeat your husband?
A) I make sure he does not feel bad and he never does. He knows I have very, very big strong legs and I train so often as well. It is fun to wrestle my husband. We both enjoy it. I do not think it's such a big deal that a woman can beat a man.

Q) Do your sons like having a strong mom?
A) They don't say much about it but a couple times will say "mom's got muscles". They better get going if they want to be stronger than me, they are thin boys.

Q) Have you ever wrestled a man and noticed he was turned on?
A) Yes. It happens a lot. There are many reasons and I guess it doesn't matter really what the reason is. I sometimes even laugh or smile when I know it because I am in a serious match and all of a sudden I feel a penis hard and it's just something different. Really I know many men are attracted to my muscles. I don't think I knew it many years ago, but men have a sexual raw to women with muscles and women who can beat men up. I would not get angry or upset because a man gets an erection.

Q) Have you ever kicked, kneed or squeezed a man in the balls?
A) Yes. All of them. I have been around the block a lot and have had instance to do all of those things. It is very painful for the man and very effective for the woman. He will heal but he will be down a nice long time. Men should wear a cup when possible and maybe not upset women too much :-).

Q) What usually happens when a man gets hit where it counts? How do you feel?
A) I would sometimes be losing a match to my brothers or some other guy and he would be too rough with me. If he didn't stop I would give a grab and squeeze or shoot up shin up into his balls. When I have done it then it is done right and he loses his breath, holds his stomach and bends over. I look at him and say something about how he should regret something because this looks very painful.
